Better Bus Area Fund

The aim of the fund is to improve bus journey times, reliability and cut carbon.

Anchor Road Phase 2 works start on 7th September 2020 and run until the end of January 2021.

The works are being carried out as part of the Better Bus Area Fund (BBAF) and are aimed at improving bus punctuality and journey times for those travelling into the city on this route, including Portway Park & Ride users. It will also bring enhanced cycling and walking routes for the hundreds of pedestrians and cyclists passing through the area every day.

The works aimed at improving public transport, walking and cycling include:

  1. Road widening adjacent to the Aquarium to facilitate an extended 24 hour outbound bus lane approaching the bus stop outside ‘We the Curious’
  2. An improved pedestrian crossing facility outside ‘We the Curious’
  3. Installation of concrete pads at the inbound and outbound bus stops outside ‘We the Curious’ and the Cathedral to strengthen the road surface.
  4. Road resurfacing/reconstruction along certain sections of Anchor Road.

We will be posting updates on roadworks and road closures for this work at travelwest.info/AnchorRd
