Significant changes to local bus services will come into effect in January as First reviews its network in North Somerset

The 121 service from Weston-super-Mare to Bristol will be combined with the A2 Link service. The new service will be numbered A2 and will provide an hourly link to Bristol Airport between Weston and Nailsea.

The revised route will run from approximately 5am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, creating and ideal travel option for commuters at Bristol Airport. There are plans for earlier journeys in the future, from 2am, to provide transport links for shift workers.

Though some direct connections with Bristol city centre will be lost, passengers will be able to transfer from the A2 to Bristol-bound services at Backwell Crossroads (X1 or X8), or they can change onto the Airport Flyer at Bristol Airport (separate ticket).

Due to the fact that Winford and Felton will no longer be served by the A2, North Somerset Council is funding a new service 21 which will provide morning and afternoon/evening links.

There will be changes to routes X4 and X5 by numbering them all X5 and operating from Weston via the M5 for quicker journeys. The service will no longer serve Congresbury, Yatton or Kenn.

The service W1 route will be adjusted to serve all of Yatton village, maintaining the link between Weston and Yatton and providing a new connection to Bristol city centre.

In order to further reduce the impact of these changes, the council has worked with Carmel Bristol to extend service 88 to Yatton.

More details for all the services will be made available to passengers in the future. Timetables will be available on Traveline in the coming weeks.
