Major Updates

Deadline extended until 21st February 2020.

Local authorities are now able to bid for funding from the Energy Saving Trust’s eCargo Bike Grant Fund to support businesses or their own fleets. The funding could offer up to 100% funded electric cargo bikes.

In order for the 4 West of England authorities to apply for this funding, we need to hear from interested businesses or sole traders so this can feed into the funding bid. Please get in touch with your local Travelwest Business Engagement Team (contact details at the bottom of the page) to find out more or register your interest by Friday 21 February, 2020.

Why is an eCargo bike for you?

As you may already be aware, Bristol and Bath are both implementing Clean Air Zones in their city centres to reduce air pollution and improve health. In coming years, councils, businesses and residents will all need to adapt the way we travel to improve our air quality. eCargo bikes are just one of the cheaper, greener ways of transporting goods around our cities.

An eCargo bike offers a sustainable method of travel, whilst allowing the user to carry large loads, useful for those delivering products or services to various clients within cycling distance, or offers a quick way for larger organisations to travel with goods between multiple sites.

Many eCargo bikes can also be branded, a great way to advertise your company for free whilst you go about your every day work!

Case study – Good Sixty

Good Sixty Ltd is a Bristol-based business that uses electric cargo bikes to courier local produce and goods to homes within a 2.5 mile radius of Bristol city centre.

With some support from Travelwest to help purchase 2 electric cargo bikes, Good Sixty started deliveries in November 2018 and within six months made 1,800 deliveries by bike, logging 5,230 kilometres which would previously have been driven in a van. This saving equates to approximately 816kg of CO2, as well as associated emissions of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter.

“The funding and equipment we have received from Travelwest has helped us a lot with our day-to-day operations and taken vehicles off of the road” – Good Sixty
