Travelwest’s Travel Plan Accreditation advocates your organisation’s commitment to promote sustainable travel for commuting and business travel, and your commitment to reduce your organisation’s environmental footprint.

The accreditation is valid for three years and offered at three levels:

1) Gold Award: awarded where a significant achievement in behavioural change in both commuting and business travel, supported by a good environmental performance has occurred

2) Silver Award: awarded where Travel Plan measures have been successfully implemented in both commuting and business travel

3) Bronze Award: awarded where a strong foundation for a Travel Plan has been established

Accreditation should be regarded as the natural culmination of your corporate travel strategy.

Organisations can apply for (re-)accreditation at any time during the year.

Travel Plans and ISO 14001

  • ISO 14001 is the international standard for businesses looking to manage their environmental responsibilities. Its voluntary standard provides a framework that organisations can certify to.

ISO 14001 is often integrated with other management standards (most commonly ISO 9001), and can be used towards an approach for continuous improvement, along with many other benefits.

  • As travel plans contain a package of actions to encourage safe, healthy and sustainable travel options, they also look at reducing car travel. This can help improve health and wellbeing within your workforce and also provide cost savings for reduced car parking needs.

Alongside this, it can help with making positive contributions to your local community and the environment, providing a strong case to the level of contribution needed to achieve emission reductions required under an ISO 14001 standard.
