Alun Griffiths have scored highly after an audit by the Considerate Constructors Scheme for their work on the South Bristol Link.

They received a score of 42/50 and an award for Performance Beyond Compliance.

A credit to the industry

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded by the construction industry to improve its image. Construction sites and companies voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by its Code of Considerate Practice which encourages best practice beyond statutory requirements.

Alun Griffiths’ community engagement was praised for its “exemplary standard” and they were commended for how “proper consultation has resulted in a major programme change in the most sensitive area of the works.”

The Scheme recognised that “the efforts of the whole team to liaise, consult and cooperate with affected residents… is very much to the credit of the industry.”

High standards

Alun Griffiths also scored highly for their work to protect the environment and for looking after their workforce. The Scheme noted the staff facilities provided by Alun Griffiths are to a high standard and their comprehensive health and safety policies are “rigorously enforced”.

Simon Dunn, Area Projects Manager for Alun Griffiths, said “we’re delighted with our score. This is a fantastic achievement for the project.”

Alex Fear, MetroBus Project Manager for the South Bristol Link, added “this is very good and demonstrates the positive work that the team at Alun Griffiths are doing in south Bristol.”
