A big thank you to everyone who took part in Active October. We had a great response with over 980 people signing up to take part, despite the challenge being moved from its usual spot in June.
For the first time we wanted to engage not only with individuals who are still able to commute at this current time, but also with the large numbers of individuals in the region who are now working from home. To do this we included a variety of other journeys to log, as well as the more traditional commute and business options. We also included a new “exercise” category unrelated to modal shift which was available to all.
The 635 participants who reported that they were now sometimes or always working from home logged a variety of journeys including trips to the shops, leisure outings and the school run. They also recorded lots of exercise.
Congratulations to the following workplaces that came top of their size category:
3 to 19 employees
- gcp Chartered Architects
- Green Hat Graphic Design
- Knowle West Media Centre
- Collins Clevedon
- Blu Wireless
- West of England Combined Authority
- WSP (Bristol)
- Lyons Davidson Ltd. (incorporating File Dynamics)
- DAC Beachcroft
- Wessex Water
- Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust
- Rolls-Royce plc (Bristol)
Also deserving a special mention is Sudhanshu from DAC Beachcroft who logged the most journeys during the challenge and Neil from Civica who came second on the individual leaderboard.
If you need more incentive to keep active, Love To Ride’s Winter Wheelers started on 1 December and there are lots of prizes to be won.
