Urgent roadworks are continuing in North Somerset during the coronavirus pandemic.
North Somerset Council has reviewed its roadworks programme to help keep its workers and the public safe during the current restrictions.
Critical repair and maintenance works are still being carried out so that the highways network remains safe for key workers, emergency services, delivery vehicles and people who need to shop or get to work.
North Somerset Council will also continue works on some improvement schemes where Government advice on construction works and social distancing can be complied with.
The council’s LED street lighting replacement programme is also continuing.
Our highways service has a vital role to play in making sure essential workers and deliveries can get around safely, which is why we’re continuing with roadworks where it’s safe for us to do so.
We’re working alongside our partners Skanska, Centregreat and Dynniq to ensure we are aligned with the latest Government advice to protect both our staff and the public.
Please be kind to our workers out on the roads at this difficult time. It’s difficult for them too, but they do have an essential role to play in keeping our road network safe, making sure essential workers and deliveries can get through and preparing for us to get back to normal as quickly as possible when this is all over.Cllr James Tonkin, North Somerset Council’s executive member for highways
