Work to make bus journeys faster and more reliable on a major Bristol road is due to start on Monday.
An extension to the outbound bus lane will be built along Anchor Road, following work done last year to create an inbound bus lane on the busy road.
The road will also be resurfaced in places with safety improvements carried out on the pedestrian crossing outside We the Curious.
The project is part of Bristol City Council’s vision to transform Bristol’s transport network, creating cleaner air, more reliable public transport, and safer walking and cycling journeys.
Work will start on Monday 7 September and is expected to take around four months, with completion due in late January 2021.
Works will take place between the junctions of Explore Lane and College Green, and throughout there will always be one inbound and one outbound lane open to all traffic.
The two main bus stops on Anchor Road (A1 and A2 in both directions) will be closed for the whole period of works with temporary stops in use instead.
During the four month period there will be some overnight closures, but these will be carried out at times that cause minimal disruption, with a diversion in place.
