The Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan is a significant step towards transforming active travel in the region. The Plan proposes investment of £411m by 2036, improving the environment for cyclists and pedestrians, focussing on 30 local high streets as well as improvements along 55 continuous cycle routes.

Working with Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire councils, we’re aiming to provide high quality infrastructure to ensure the West of England is a region where cycling and walking are the preferred choices for shorter trips and to access public transport. This plan was adopted in June 2020 and builds on the draft published as part of a public consultation held earlier in the year – receiving nearly 2,000 responses from across the region.
