The West of England authorities have teamed up with some local bus operators and to introduce the very latest in smartcard technology designed to make your life that much easier with smart tickets and Pay-As-You-Go contactless payment.

Why Smartcard?

  • Convenience – with the Pay-As-You-Go epurse there is no need to carry cash and buying multiple journeys/days travel I one go (on bus or online)
  • Discounts – get access to special discounted tickets when using the Pay-As-You-Go ePurse and when buying multi-journey tickets in advance
  • Cashless – add money to your card using the Pay-As-You-Go ePurse facility and buy tickets on the bus
  • Robust – plastic cards are more durable than paper tickets
  • Security – if lost or stolen, registered cards can be blocked and then replaced
  • Protect your balance – if lost or stolen, your Pay-As-You-Go credit and tickets purchased online are protected and remaining credit will be transferred to your replacement card
  • Service improvements – travel info from the card will help us plan future services

Load your card with credit and use to purchase tickets on bus (participating operators only)

Available to ALL Travelwest card holders
PAYG credit can be used to buy selected tickets on bus.

Some bus operators offer special ‘smart’ discounts for customers making a contactless PAYG payment

Rider Multi-Operator tickets (1 day and Weekly available):

Purchase a smart Rider ticket on bus and then simply hold it to the reader to travel on every subsequent journey

Available to ALL Travelwest and First ‘touch’ card holders
- BathRider (1 day & Weekly tickets)

- BristolRider (1 day & Weekly tickets

- WestonRider (1 day & Weekly tickets)

- AvonRider (1 day & Weekly tickets)

On bus:
From all participating operators (except First)

Buses operated by First bus will sell, and accept, rider tickets on Travelwest cards but will not distribute them.
Bristol Park and Ride day tickets:

Purchase your smart tickets online on the Travelwest portal and collect at the Park and Ride site – then simply hold to the reader when getting on the bus (packs of 5 day tickets also available on bus)

Bristol Park and Ride tickets are only available to customers who have ordered a Travelwest card and a park and ride ticket online at the same time.
Day tickets – available in packs of:
- 5 day passes
- 10 day passes
- 20 day passes

Available on bus:
- 5 day passes ONLY

Available online:
- 5 day passes
- 10 day passes
- 20 day passes
Bristol Park and Ride ONLYOnline:

Currently only Travelwest cards ordered through the Travelwest web portal with a park and ride ticket can be used on these services.

Other cards will not be able to be topped up with Park and Ride tickets, online or on bus.
Bath Park and Ride ticket:

Purchase your smart tickets on bus then simply hold it to the reader to travel on every subsequent journey

Bath Park and Ride tickets are only available on Travelwest cards handed out by drivers on Bath Park and Ride services
10 Journeys Bath Park and Ride packBath Park and Ride ONLYOn bus:
On Bath Park and Ride Services (not available on the Service 42)

Currently only Travelwest cards handed out on Bath Park and Ride Services, operated by First, can purchase the 10 journeys ticket.

Rider Tickets available on Smartcards

Adult Day and Adult week versions of AvonRider, BathRider, BristolRider and WestonRider are available on Travelwest Smartcards and First Touch Card.

How to buy a Rider ticket using smartcards

  • Load onto a Travelwest Smartcard (participating operators only) or a First Touch Card. Once loaded onto the card, the same period of validity as above applies.
  • Buy using sQuid balance on a Travelwest Smartcard (participating operators only).
  • Rider Tickets cannot be bought or renewed online.
  • Student/child Rider Tickets are not available on smartcards.

Smartcards available on Crosville services in Weston-super-Mare

Smartcards are now available on Crosville bus services in Weston-super-Mare. Passengers will be able to purchase a discounted ‘Smart Single’ ticket for £1.60 using their new smartcard, which offers a 40p saving per single journey on average. They will also be able to purchase all of Crosville’s ticket range using the card.

Travelwest smartcard holders can now top up their card online for pay-as-you-go travel and use it instead of cash to buy bus tickets on all Crosville services. If you register the card online with Travelwest you will be credited an introductory £3. Please note the introductory £3 credit is only available for the first 2,000 cards distributed by Crosville Motor Services and when customers top up their e-purse for the first time.
