    CrossCountry have introduced a temporary timetable to provide greater certainty and reliability for customers.

    CrossCountry's temporary timetables are available to download up to and including Friday 4 October.

    Amended late night service between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads from Monday 9 to Thursday 12 September

    Engineering work is taking place overnight between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads from Monday to Thursday, starting at approximately 23:45 each evening, closing some lines. The following changes will be made:

    Monday to Wednesday:

    The 22:28 and 23:32 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads services will be diverted via an alternative route between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads. As a result, those trains will not call at Chippenham or Bath Spa. Buses will provide connections from Swindon to Chippenham and Bath Spa, and the buses will continue to Bristol Temple Meads.

    Thursday:

    The 23:32 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads service will be diverted via an alternative route between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads. As a result, the train will not call at Chippenham or Bath Spa. Buses will provide connections from Swindon to Chippenham and Bath Spa, and the buses will continue to Bristol Temple Meads.

    Amended 23:42 Swindon to Cheltenham Spa service from Monday 9 September to Thursday 12 September

    Engineering work is taking place overnight between Swindon and Gloucester from Monday to Thursday, starting at approximately 23:15 each evening, closing all lines.

    The 23:42 Swindon to Cheltenham Spa service will be diverted via an alternative route between Swindon and Gloucester, calling additionally at Bristol Parkway.

    The diverted train will be unable to call at Kemble, Stroud or Stonehouse. A bus will provide connections from Swindon to Kemble, Stroud and Stonehouse, and the bus will then continue to call at Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa.

    Customers travelling from Swindon to Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa are advised to travel on the diverted train.

    Engineering work is taking place overnight between Bristol Temple Meads and Westbury via Freshford from Monday to Thursday, starting at approximately 23:10 each evening, closing all lines. The following changes will be made:

    • 23:06 Bristol Temple Meads to Westbury service will terminate at Bath Spa. Road transport will run from Bath Spa to Westbury calling at all stations.
    • 23:45 Bristol Temple Meads to Frome service will not run. Road transport (bus and minibus) will run at 23:45 to call at all stations from Bristol Temple Meads to Westbury / Frome.
    • 21:23 Portsmouth Harbour to Bristol Temple Meads service will terminate at Westbury. Road transport will run from Westbury, calling at Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.

    Please note the buses stop at Freshford Old Bakery in place of Freshford station and in Lower Westwood The Pastures in place of Avoncliff station.

    Amended late night / early morning service between Reading and Gatwick Airport from Monday 9 to Friday 13 September

    Engineering work is taking place overnight each night, from 23:40 on Monday night to 05:30 on Friday morning, between Guildford and Redhill closing all lines.

    Monday to Thursday nights:

    23:33 Reading to Gatwick Airport service will terminate at Guildford. Road transport will run from Guildford to Gatwick Airport.

    23:22 Gatwick Airport to Reading service will terminate at Redhill. Road transport will run from Redhill to Guildford. A train will complete the journey from Guildford to Reading.

    Tuesday to Friday mornings:

    04:32 Reading to Gatwick Airport service will depart Guildford and subsequent stations later than normal, and will terminate at Redhill. Train connections are available between Redhill and Gatwick Airport.

    05:59 Gatwick Airport to Reading service will start from Redhill. You can use an earlier train from Gatwick Airport to Redhill to connect with this amended train to Reading.

  • AW – All Transport for Wales services to / from Bidston

    Buses replace evening trains between Wrexham Central / Wrexham General and Bidston from Monday 9 to Thursday 12 September

    Engineering work is taking place between Wrexham General and Bidston, closing all lines on Monday to Thursday evenings.

    As a result, the following trains will be replaced by buses:

    • 19:45 Wrexham General to Bidston (Birkenhead North)
    • 20:46 Bidston (dep: Birkenhead North at 20:36) to Wrexham Central
    • 21:52 Wrexham Central to Bidston (Birkenhead North)
    • 22:58 Bidston (dep: Birkenhead North at 22:48) to Wrexham General

    Buses will run to / from Birkenhead North due to improved accessibility at that station.

    An additional rail replacement bus will also be provided for customers looking to connect onto the 23:34 Merseyrail service from Birkenhead North to Liverpool Central, departing Wrexham Central at 21:12.

    No rail replacement buses will call at Hawarden Bridge because of poor road access. For Hawarden Bridge, you should use Shotton instead, which is approximately 0.6 miles away along National Cycle Route 5.

    • 00:18 Henley-on-Thames to Reading service will terminate at Twyford. Connecting trains are available from Twyford to Reading.
    • 00:19 Reading to London Paddington service will not call at Burnham or Taplow. Burnham and Taplow customers can travel via Slough on connecting buses.
    • 00:45 London Paddington to Reading service will not call at Burnham or Taplow. Burnham and Taplow customers can travel via Slough on connecting buses.

    Friday:

    Bus journey times:

    Customers travelling to Pangbourne can use a connecting bus from Tilehurst which will take approximately 10 minutes. Customers travelling from Pangbourne can travel by bus to Tilehurst to connect with the train.

    Avanti West Coast:

    From 22:00 on Saturday and all day Sunday, trains will be diverted via Northampton extending journey times.

    Trains via Birmingham New Street will start / terminate at Birmingham International.

    A replacement bus service will operate between Rugby and Birmingham International.

    Trains may call additionally at Watford Junction and Rugby.

    CrossCountry:

    Trains will be diverted and will not call at Coventry or Birmingham International. Journey times are unaffected.

    A replacement bus service will operate between Leamington Spa and Birmingham International, calling at Coventry.

    London Northwestern Railway:

    Sunday until 08:45

    Train services between London Euston and Northampton will run between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central only, with rail replacement buses operating between Milton Keynes Central and Northampton.

    All day Sunday

    Train services between London Euston and Crewe will run between Rugby and Crewe only. You are advised to travel on other services between London Euston and Rugby.

    Train services between London Euston / Northampton and Birmingham New Street will run between London Euston / Northampton and Coventry and between Birmingham International and Birmingham New Street only (to an amended timetable at reduced frequency). Rail replacement buses will operate between Coventry and Birmingham International.

    Lumo:

    Northern:

    Background Information:

    These Network Rail planned works include replacing just under a mile of track between Thornford and Yeovil Pen Mill. Engineers will also be working on the junction south of Maiden Newton station, where the two tracks merge into one.

    The existing track is over 50 years old and prone to faults that can cause disruption and delays. The brand-new track will make for smoother, more comfortable and reliable journeys.
