To ensure disabled motorists are supported to continue to park safely in accessible spaces, the council has now produced a map showing the location of all disabled access parking bays.
Councillor Joanna Wright, joint cabinet member for Transport, said: “Although we’ve had to make some temporary changes to the layout of roads to facilitate social distancing, we want to ensure that disabled people can easily find accessible parking bays. Our new map clearly shows the location of every disabled parking bay in the centre of Bath and I hope disabled motorists, and those carrying passengers who are Blue Badge holders, find it a useful resource.
“We know disabled access bays close to shops are a vital resource, particularly for those with mobility problems, and we are currently looking at where we can install some additional temporary on-street disabled access parking spaces in the city. We hope to have them in place later this summer.”
As well as the council’s on-street provision disabled parking bays are also available in the city’s car parks:
Charlotte Street 24
Avon Street 11
Manvers Street 6
Kingsmead Square 4
Broad Street 4
Bath Sports & Leisure Centre 6
Lansdown Park and Ride 16
Newbridge Park and Ride 8
Odd Down Park and Ride 26
Blue badge holders may also park for free on single and double yellow lines where no loading ban applies (maximum stay of 3 hours).
