WESTlink is a different type of bus service which lets you choose when and where to travel. Unlike a normal bus, there are no fixed routes or timetables. Instead, you can book your ride on the WESTlink app or by phone, putting you in control of your journey.
Your first two rides are free
Valid only for users who have completed fewer than two WESTlink rides. No promo code required, the free rides will be automatically applied. Must be used by 31 October 2026.

Select where you’d like to be picked up and where you’d like to travel to. You can also select the time you’d like to travel, if you’re booking in advance. Tap ‘Book this ride’.
Check the app to see where to meet your driver. WESTlink picks you up or drops you off at a convenient location, rather than directly outside your door.
Usually, this will be your local bus stop, an easy-to-reach location or a street corner just down the road (If you have mobility issues we can pick you up from your door). You’ll receive notifications when your driver is on their way and be able to track the vehicle on the map.
The app will tell you your estimated time of arrival and keep you updated as your journey progresses. If someone else is heading in a similar direction our clever technology matches you up, so you may end up sharing your journey. This keeps the service affordable!
Book over the phone
If you are unable to book your journey using the app, you can also book over the phone with the operator. Lines are open Monday to Saturday between 05:30 and 21:30. Closed on Sundays & Public Holidays.

WESTlink picks you up or drops you off at a convenient location, rather than directly outside your door. This helps keep the service moving and available for more passengers. Usually, this will be your local bus stop, an easy-to-reach location or a convenient corner just down the road. The app, or your booking advisor if you booked over the phone, will let you know exactly where to go.
If you’re unable to walk to your nearest bus stop, let us know when you book and we’ll pick you up at your door. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are also available. To do this, tap ‘Concessions’ in the app menu, then turn on ‘Additional mobility needs’. Or let us know when you book by phone.
When you’re ready to travel, check your app to see where to meet your driver. You’ll also be able to see where the vehicle is in real time from 30 minutes before your ride. When booking your ride, you can pay by card on the app or choose to pay cash on the bus (exact change only). To do this, you’ll need to select ‘cash’ as your payment method in the app.

Yes, you can pre-book more than one journey, meaning that you can book your return journey ahead of time.
If you no longer need to travel, please cancel your booking in the app or by calling us on 0117 457 8561 as this will free up a seat for another passenger.
If you cancel your booking, you will not be charged. Payment is taken once your journey has ended.

To make the service easier to use, we’ve introduced a simple mileage cap for WESTlink journeys (8 miles, or 5 miles in the North Somerset zones). The milage cap enables more journeys to be taken on the service, but it might mean that some previously available journeys may no longer be possible.
If somebody else is heading in a similar direction, you may be matched up so that you share your journey. This keeps the service fast and affordable.
When you book, you can specify a departure or arrival time. If a vehicle is available, you can catch a ride that will arrive at your destination up to 30 minutes before your requested time.
The app will also tell you your estimated arrival time when you book a journey. This will also update as your journey progresses, for example if your bus gets stuck in traffic.
