Major Updates

Safety improvements are among the upgrades coming to a link road in North Somerset next week.

Alongside maintenance, including patching, line upgrades and replacing damaged signage, a stretch through Burrington Combe will see a new surface added around bends that improves grip.

The work, which will run from the A368 junction to Ellick Road, will be done under a daily closure between 8am and 5pm from Monday 9 to Friday 13 December.

While the road is closed there will be a signed diversion route in place.

North Somerset Council’s Head of Transport and Infrastructure, Colin Medus, said: “We will be introducing a different type of surface to the bend along this stretch of road with higher grip rating than standard materials.

“Choosing this non-standard material for the particularly tight bends in this area will improve safety.

“The work, which also includes patching and other improvements, is part of our annual maintenance programme, which aims to keep our residents and visitors moving on North Somerset’s road network.”

The scheme, which will cost £130,000, will be carried out by North Somerset Council contactors Skanska.

More information about the scheme, including closure details and diversion routes, can be found at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/roads launching the map and searching for Burrington Combe.
