Following successful bids to the Department for Transport’s Access Fund, North Somerset Council has £30,000 worth of funding available to help organisations invest in sustainable travel improvements.
Organisations can apply for up to £3,000 for new initiatives and facilities, and the organisation is expected to match fund any proposed scheme. This can be 50% of the total value or can partly or wholly in kind, for example by installing the facilities or promoting schemes.
Local groups are already benefitting from the grants.
Civil and structural engineering design consultancy Craddys received £2,500 towards installing sheltered cycle parking for their employees. As a result of this and other improvements, commuting by bike has increased by nearly 50%.
And Locking Primary School also successfully applied for £2,500 to create a purpose built path where pupils can practise their scooter and bike skills.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 30 November 2017, grant application forms are available at https://travelwest.info/businesses/north-somerset.
