Free travel days on North Somerset’s bus Network

Travel for free on North Somerset buses on Friday 26 July and Monday 29 July 2024 and enjoy unlimited bus travel at no cost.

Thanks to funding from the UK government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, North Somerset Council is offering all visitors and residents two completely free travel days on parts of the North Somerset bus network.

To celebrate the start of the summer holidays, North Somerset Council is encouraging residents to try out their local bus network with completely free travel. Why not go for a day out on the beach, take a trip to Bristol or meet up with friends?

Enjoy free travel all day on services 5, 6, 7, 9, X1-X10, 125 and 126. There is no need to get tickets, simply get on board and enjoy the journey.

Also download the Weston-super-Mare network map or the North Somerset network map.

The free travel days are part of the council’s joint campaigns with First Bus and The Big Lemon to encourage more people to catch the bus. Listen out on the radio, see adverts in key locations and on petrol pumps, and watch videos on social media.

Complimentary bus travel guides are also on their way to doormats across North Somerset, and additional free bus travel offers will be posted through letterboxes over the coming months.

More bus users mean better air quality, a reduction in carbon emissions as well as fewer cars on the road, which makes everyone’s journey quicker and easier.

By offering free travel, the council hopes to show everyone it is possible to explore the region, commute to work, and enjoy local attractions by bus.

We hope by showcasing the convenience of using a bus, we can attract more regular bus users. This increased ridership is crucial for maintaining and expanding our services, especially when financial support from other sources ends. We’d like people and families to enjoy taking the bus to work, for socialising and for staying connected with friends, families and communities.
