Work is coming to an end on Friday 12th September 2025 to allow more bus services to stop at Portway Park & Ride when travelling to and from the northwest of the city and beyond.

The project includes:

  • Widening and reconfiguring the bus junction
  • A new pedestrian crossing next to the bus junction
  • Resurfacing the area
  • Adding more wayfinding

How this will impact Park & Ride bus users

Bristol City Council are removing temporary bus stops near the Park & Ride either side of the A4 Portway.
If you catch the number 9 bus, you will need to use the original bus stop inside the Park & Ride site from Friday 12th September.

Bristol City Council will also remove the temporary pedestrian crossing on the A4 Portway. The service 9 bus will now serve the original bus stop inside the site from Friday 12th September.

Timings

The project is expected to take around nine months to complete.

The A4 Portway will remain open throughout but temporary traffic signals will be used to allow for two-way traffic. Thank you for bearing with us while we work to improve Portway Park & Ride.
