Filton Road Cycle Route Lighting

The installation of street lighting on the eastern end of Filton Road between Old Gloucester Road and Coldharbour Lane. This section of cycle route is well used by both cyclists and pedestrians, heading to and from The UWE Frenchay campus, and nearby employment sites, but usage tails off significantly during months when it is dark during key commuter hours. The installation of lighting, is intended to increase the attractiveness of the route for walking and cycling.

Mangotsfield Cycle Path Lighting

The installation of lighting along a section of the Bristol and Bath Railway Path between Mangotsfield Station and its connection to the Ring Road Cycle Path/Yate Spur.

Two recent LSTF funded lighting schemes have been installed on sections of the Bristol and Bath Railway Path between Staple Hill and Mangotsfield Station, and between Siston and Mangotsfield Station. This scheme will complement these schemes, and complete the lighting of cycle routes within the urban sections of the local cycle network in this area.

Bromley Heath Walking and Cycling Bridge

Bromley Heath Bridge currently carries the A4174 Ring Road and the cycle path that runs alongside across the River Frome.  The aim of this scheme is to provide a high quality walking and cycling route, separate from the A4174 on a new bridge structure cantilevered out from the existing bridge, removing a significant constraint on the Cycle Trunk Route.

Bromley Heath Bridge carries the A4174 Ring Road and the cycle path that runs alongside across the River Frome. These critical transport routes serve the communities and employment sites across the North Fringe and are key components of the local transport network. This section of the Cycle Trunk Route is one of the busiest cycle routes in South Gloucestershire, however the cycle path, across the bridge itself is a narrow 1.8 metres with no buffer to bridge parapet or the kerb line of the main road carriageway, creating a pinch point that is frequently the subject of complaint from members of the public and other stakeholders.

The aim of this scheme is to provide a high quality walking and cycling route, separate from the A4174 on a new bridge structure cantilevered out from the existing bridge, removing a significant constraint on the Cycle Trunk Route. In order to minimise disruption to the traveling public, whilst the route is constructed, the works will be co-ordinated with planned maintenance works on the main Bromley Heath bridge structure.

Hayes Way cycle route

Provision of a full standard walking and cycling route along the southern side of Hayes Way. Already a busy road and important route linking the Mall at Cribbs Causeway with the A38, Hayes Way also provides access to the planned Cribbs Patchway New Neighbourhood, and will become more important as a route for pedestrians and cyclists once the CPNN development takes place.

Church Road cycle route

Improvements to the existing shared use facilities along Church Road, along with junction improvements at Westfield Lane. Part of the Cycle Trunk Route. This section will also link to the planned new subway at the Parkway Station which will provide an improved pedestrian / cycle access to the station.The subway scheme is currently planned for delivery in 2018/19.
