    Travel information for CrossCountry customers: temporary timetable changes until Saturday 9 November

    CrossCountry have introduced a temporary timetable to provide greater certainty and reliability for customers. The temporary timetable is expected to be in place until Saturday 9 November.

    CrossCountry's temporary timetables are available to download up to and including Friday 11 October.

    Why has the temporary reduced timetable been put in place?

    The temporary timetable has been put in place to provide greater certainty and reliability for customers, instead of having on-the-day cancellations.

    Whilst the temporary timetable is in place, CrossCountry will be:

    • Retaining the maximum capacity for passengers
    • Running critical training for their drivers
    • Reducing on-the-day cancellations

  • GWR – Between Plymouth and Gunnislake

    Buses replaces trains between Calstock and Gunnislake today: disruption expected until at least Friday 27 September

    Urgent repairs to a bridge between Calstock and Gunnislake means that trains are currently unable to run between these stations.

    As a result, trains running between Plymouth and Gunnislake have been revised, operating between Plymouth and Calstock only.

    Rail replacement transport will operate between Calstock and Gunnislake.

    Plans for the repairs are still being finalised, however, disruption is expected until at least Friday 27 September.

    Today, Tuesday 17 September

    A low floor bus operated by Go Southwest will run between Calstock and Gunnislake today.

    Wednesday 18 - Friday 20 September

    Rail replacement will operate between Calstock and Gunnislake. It is not yet confirmed whether this will be in the form of minibuses or coaches. This is due to supplier availability on the day.

    Control teams are working to finalise train plans.

    It is expected that road transport will run for customers to complete their journeys between Calstock and Gunnislake, but this is not yet confirmed. Please check back for updates.

    Additional information:

    During a routine inspection of Darkey Lane Bridge, engineers have found structural issues which makes the bridge unsafe to pass and requires repairs. Due to the complex nature of the structure, it is expected that the bridge will remain closed until further notice.

    Buses replace trains between Newbury and Bedwyn from 22:15 on Monday 16 until 06:00 on Friday 20 September

    Engineering work is taking place between Newbury and Bedwyn, closing all lines throughout the day from Monday evening until Friday morning.

    Monday:

    The 21:57 and 22:47 Newbury to Bedwyn services will not run, and will be replaced by road transport, calling at all stations.

    The 22:30 London Paddington to Bedwyn service will terminate at Newbury. Road transport will run from Newbury, calling at all stations to Bedwyn.

    The 22:25 Bedwyn to Newbury service will not run, and will be replaced by earlier road transport, calling at all stations.

    The 23:17 Bedwyn to Reading service will start from Newbury. Earlier road transport will run from Bedwyn via Hungerford and Kintbury to Newbury, connecting with the train. There will also be road transport at 23:38 from Bedwyn to Reading, calling Hungerford and Kintbury, then setting down only at Newbury, Thatcham and Reading.

    Tuesday to Thursday:

    • The 08:30, 10:30, and 12:30 London Paddington to Weston-super-Mare services will not call at Nailsea & Backwell, Yatton, Worle and Weston-super-Mare, and will continue on to Plymouth.
    • The 11:23 and 13:26 Weston-super-Mare to London Paddington services will start from Bristol Temple Meads.

    Local services:

    Trains will run to an amended timetable and slightly reduced frequency between London Paddington / Reading and Newbury only.

    Replacement buses will run between:

    • Newbury and Bedwyn, calling at all stations.
    • Chippenham and Westbury.

    At Trowbridge, buses to Westbury will stop for customers to disembark only and buses from Westbury will stop to pick up customers only.

    Long distance services:

    Trains between London Paddington and Plymouth / Penzance that usually run via Newbury will be diverted to run on alternative routes, and will run to a reduced frequency. These trains will not call at Newbury, Hungerford or Pewsey, and some of these trains will additionally call at Swindon.

    Friday:

    The 05:32 Bedwyn to London Paddington service will not run. You should travel on later train services.

    Amended 23:42 Swindon to Cheltenham Spa service from Monday 16 to Thursday 19 September

    Engineering work is taking place between Stonehouse and Gloucester, closing all lines on Monday to Thursday evenings.

    The 23:42 Swindon to Cheltenham Spa service will divert between Swindon and Gloucester (via Bristol Parkway and Severn Tunnel Junction – not calling at either). It will not call at Kemble, Stroud and Stonehouse. It will terminate at Gloucester.

    Road transport will operate at 23:42 from Swindon to Kemble, Stroud, Stonehouse Town Hall, Gloucester(set down only) and Cheltenham Spa. Customers travelling from Swindon to Gloucester should use the train where possible. Customers travelling from Gloucester to Cheltenham Spa should travel by earlier train services.

    Background Information:

    These Network Rail planned works include replacing just under a mile of track between Thornford and Yeovil Pen Mill. Engineers will also be working on the junction south of Maiden Newton station, where the two tracks merge into one.

    The existing track is over 50 years old and prone to faults that can cause disruption and delays. The brand-new track will make for smoother, more comfortable and reliable journeys.

    Engineering work is taking place between Reading and Blackwater, closing all lines overnight from Monday evening until Friday morning.

    Monday to Thursday:

    The 23:22 Gatwick Airport to Reading service will terminate at Guildford. A replacement bus will run from Guildford to North Camp, Blackwater, Wokingham and Reading.

    Tuesday to Friday:

    The 04:32 Reading to Gatwick Airport service will start from Guildford. An earlier replacement bus will run from Reading at 04:15 to Guildford, connecting with the train.

    The 05:00 Reading to Redhill service will start from Guildford. An earlier replacement bus will run from Reading at 04:30, calling at Wokingham, Blackwater, Blackwater and Guildford, connecting with the train.

    The 05:31 Reading to Gatwick Airport service will start earlier at 05:27, and will call additionally at Crowthorne, Sandhurst, Farnborough North and Ash. Normal timings from Guildford onwards.

  • GWR – Great Western Railway services to / from / via Bridgwater

    Amended evening services between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton from Monday 30 September to Thursday 3 October

    Engineering work is taking place between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton, closing all lines via Weston-super-Mare overnight.

    Monday, Tuesday and Thursday:

    The 20:30 London Paddington to Weston-super-Mare service will terminate at Bristol Temple Meads. Road transport will run from Bristol Temple Meads to Nailsea & Backwell, Yatton, Worle and Weston-super-Mare.

    The 21:08 Paignton to Bristol Temple Meads service will terminate at Taunton. A replacement bus will run from Taunton to Bristol Temple Meads.

    The 23:05 Bristol Temple Meads to Exeter St Davids service will divert between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton (via Westbury, not calling). It will not call at Bedminster or stations to Bridgwater. Road transport will run from Bristol Temple Meads to Taunton, calling all stations.

    The 23:06 Bristol Temple Meads to Westbury service will depart at 23:08 and will operate a few minutes later than normal throughout.

    The 23:48 Bristol Temple Meads to Exeter St Davids service will start from Taunton at 01:45 (Tuesday / Wednesday / Friday). Earlier road transport will run from Bristol Temple Meads, calling at all stations to Taunton to connect onto the train. Also road transport at 23:50 (Monday / Tuesday / Thursday) from Bristol Temple Meads setting down only at all stations (except Bedminster, Parson Street and Weston Milton) to Exeter St Davids.

    Monday to Thursday:

    The 19:15 Penzance to Bristol Temple Meads service service will be diverted between Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads, and will not call at Bridgwater, Highbridge & Burnham, Weston-super-Mare or Yatton. A replacement bus will run from Taunton to Bristol Temple Meads, serving these stations.

    The 22:44 Taunton to Bristol Temple Meads will be diverted between Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads, not calling at Bridgwater and stations to Bedminster. A replacement bus will run from Taunton to Bristol Temple Meads, serving these stations.

    Wednesday:

    The 22:00 Bristol Temple Meads to Exeter St Davids service will now run as planned.

    Monday to Thursday:

    The 19:04 Paignton to London Paddington service will additionally call at Hungerford and Kintbury, and will call at Newbury and beyond later than usual.

    The 20:05 London Paddington to Newbury service will arrive at Newbury at 21:05.

    The 21:37 Bedwyn to Newbury service will not run.

    The 21:56 Newbury to London Paddington service will run earlier than usual at 21:45, and will run earlier throughout.

    The 22:08 Newbury to Reading service will start earlier than usual at 21:48, and will not call at Newbury Racecourse, Midgham or Aldermaston. A replacement bus will run at 22:08 from Newbury to Reading for these stations.

    From 21:55 until the end of service each night, buses will replace trains between Reading and Newbury / Bedwyn.

    Tuesday to Friday:

    The 05:32 Bedwyn to London Paddington service will not run. You should travel on later train services.

    Amended early morning trains in the Swansea / Carmarthen areas on Monday 30 September

    Engineering work is taking place between Swansea and Carmarthen, closing all lines early on Monday morning.

    As a result:

    • The 04:47 Carmarthen to Llandovery service will be amended to start from Swansea at 04:52. Two replacement buses will run, one direct to Llanelli (connecting with the 05:13 Llanelli to Llandovery service), and one stopping at all stations.
    • The 04:50 Carmarthen to Milford Haven will be replaced by 2 buses, one calling at Whitland, Haverfordwest and Johnston only, and one stopping at all stations.
    • The 05:54 Milford Haven to Cardiff Central service will start from Carmarthen at 06:52. A replacement bus will run from Milford Haven at 05:02 to Carmarthen, calling at all stations. A second bus will run from Milford Haven to Carmarthen at 05:22 (direct). Both buses will connect with the train.
