Broadmead bus stop changes
Planned bus service changes to routes across the West of England will go live from Sunday 30 August 2026.
Introduction
Alongside region-wide changes, 25 bus services that travel through Bristol city centre will be rerouted away from some of Broadmead’s busiest streets.
This is part of Bristol City Council’s project to change transport routes through the city centre in preparation for thousands of new homes, shops and leisure spaces being built in the area in the coming years.
From 30 August, buses will no longer travel down or stop at:
- Union Street
- The Horsefair
- Penn Street
People travelling to or from Broadmead will need to use alternative nearby bus stops, including new and upgraded bus stops on:
- Fairfax Street
- Broad Weir
- Lower Castle Street
- Bond Street

Services 1, 2 and 2a
From Sunday 30 August the 1, 2 and 2a bus routes through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Broomhill and Stockwood (southbound), the bus routes will now go via The Centre (C8), Fairfax Street (stop B3), Wine Street (Stop B18) and Victoria Street (stops R9 and R7).
Travelling towards Cribbs Causeway and Brentry (northbound), the bus routes will go via Temple Way (stops T8 and M2), Bond Street South (stop S14), Bond Street (stop S6), Rupert Street (stop B6) and The Centre (stop C7).

Services 3 and 4
From Sunday 30 August the 3 and 4 bus routes through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Cribbs Causeway (northbound), these routes will depart from Rupert Street (stop B6) and head north via The Centre (stop C7).
Travelling into Bristol City Centre (southbound), these routes will stop at The Centre (stop C8) and terminate at Nelson Street (stop B5).

Service 5
From Sunday 30 August the 5 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Stoke Bishop Transport Hub (westbound), this service will go via Old Market (stop M4), Bond Street South (stop S14), The Haymarket (stop B8) and The Centre (stop C7)
Travelling towards St Anne’s (eastbound), this service will stop at The Centre (stop C8), Nelson Street (stop B5), Lower Castle Street (stop S17) and Old Market (stop M3).

Services 6 and 7
From Sunday 30 August the 6 and 7 bus routes through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Kingswood and Staple Hill (eastbound), these routes depart from The Centre (stop C4), going east via Nelson Street (stop B5), Lower Castle Street (stop S17) and Old Market (stop M3).
Travelling towards Bristol City Centre (westbound), these routes stop at Old Market (stop M4), Bond Street South (stop S14), Bond Street (stop S6), Rupert Street (stop B4) and terminate at The Centre (stop C3).

Service 8
From Sunday 30 August the 8 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Clifton, this service will start from Bristol Temple Meads (stop T5), and go via Temple Way (stop T8), Old Market Roundabout (stop M2), The Haymarket (stop B8) and The Centre (stop C7).
On its loop back towards Temple Meads, this service will stop on Baldwin Street (stop C13), Wine Street (stop B17), Broad Weir (stop S12), Old Market Roundabout (stop M1) and Temple Way (stop T9).

Service 9
From Sunday 30 August the 9 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Brislington Park & Ride (eastbound), this service will stop at The Centre (stop C8), Nelson Street (stop B5), Broad Weir (stop S12), Old Market Roundabout (stop M1) and Temple Way (stop T9).
Travelling towards the Portway Park & Ride (westbound), this service will stop at Temple Meads Station (stop T2), Temple Way (stop T8), Old Market Roundabout (stop M2), Bond Street South (stop S13), The Haymarket (stop B8) and The Centre (stop C7).

Service 16
From Sunday 30 August the 16 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Fishponds (eastbound), this service will stop at Temple Meads Station (stop T4), Redcliffe Way (stop R4), The Centre (stop C4), Nelson Street (stop B5), Lower Castle Street (stop S17), Old Market Roundabout (stop M1) and then on via Avon Street.
Travelling towards Whitchurch (southbound), this service will go via Avon Street, Old Market Roundabout (stop M2), Bond Street South (stop S14), the Haymarket (stop B10), Rupert Street (stop B6), The Centre (stop C5), Redcliffe Way (stop R5) and Temple Gate (stop T3).

Service 18
From Sunday 30 August the 18 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Bristol City Centre (westbound), this service will go via Old Market (stop M4), Bond Street South (stop S14), Bond Street (stop S6), Rupert Street (stop B4) and terminate at The Centre (stop C3).
Travelling towards Southmead via Kingswood (eastbound), this service will depart from The Centre (stop C4), stopping at Nelson Street (stop B5), Lower Castle Street (stop S17) and Old Market (stop M3).

Services 41, 42, 43 and 44
From Sunday 30 August the 41, 42, 43, and 44 bus routes through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling westbound towards Bristol City Centre and beyond, these services will stop at Old Market (stop M4), Bond Street South (stop S14), Bond Street (stop S6) and Rupert Street (stop B4) and on to The Centre (various stops).
Travelling towards Cadbury Heath, Burnett Business Park and North Common (eastward), these services will go via Nelson Street (stop B5), Lower Castle Street (stop S17) and Old Market (stop M3).

Service 45
From Sunday 30 August the 45 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling west towards the city centre and onwards towards Hengrove Depot, this service will go via Old Market (stop M4), Bond Street South (stop S14), the Haymarket (stop B10), Rupert Street (stop B4) and the Centre (stop C5).
Travelling towards Bitton (eastward), this service will go via The Centre (stop C4), Nelson Street (stop B5), Lower Castle Street (stop S17) and Old Market (stop M3).

From Sunday 30 August the 71 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Bristol Parkway (northbound), this service will start at Bristol Temple Meads (stop T6), then Victoria Street (stops T7 and R8) and The Centre (stop C7).
Travelling towards Bristol Temple Meads (southbound), this service will go via The Centre (stop C8), Nelson Steet (stop B5), Wine Street (B18), Victoria Street (stops R9 and R7), terminating at Bristol Temple Meads (stop T6).

Service 72
From Sunday 30 August the 72 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Bristol Temple Meads (southbound), this service will stop at Baldwin Street (stops C13 and R11), Victoria Street (stops R9 and R7), terminating at Bristol Temple Meads (stop T6).
Travelling towards The Centre and onwards to UWE Frenchay Campus (northbound), the service will start at Bristol Temple Meads (stop T6), stopping at Temple Gate (stop T2), Victoria Street (stop R8), Baldwin Street (stop R10) and The Centre (stop C7).

From Sunday 30 August the 172, 374, 375, 376 and 376a bus routes through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling towards Bath, Bridgewater, Taunton, Yeovil or Wells (southbound), these services will start at Bristol Bus Station, stopping at Fairfax Street (stop B3), Wine Street (stop B18) and Victoria Street (stops R9 and R7).
Travelling towards Bristol Bus Station (northbound), these services will stop at Redcliffe Way (stops T4 and R4), Prince Street (stop Q2), The Centre/Colston Avenue (stop C12) and terminate at Bristol Bus Station.

Service Y6
From Sunday 30 August the Y6 bus route through Bristol city centre will change.
Travelling into Bristol City Centre (southbound), this service will stop at The Centre (stop C8) and terminate at the Haymarket/Bearpit (stop B9).
Travelling towards Chipping Sodbury and Yate (northbound), this service will start on Rupert Street and pass through The Centre (stop C7).
