School holiday timetable changes
Services 1, 2, 2a, 3,4, 24, 70, 75, 76 and m1 in Bristol will run a modified version of the Monday to Friday timetable from 26th July during school holidays over the summer so that the buses can continue to progress as quickly as possible in the much reduced traffic conditions.
The only exception is service 70 which will also have a temporary frequency reduction from every 20 minutes to every 30 minutes due to reduced demand during the University holiday period.
Changes to WESTlink
What’s changing?
- Expanded travel area: You can now use WESTlink to travel across the entire West of England & Bristol North areas provided your journey is no more than 8 miles (aerial distance). We have also expanded the service to Stockwood, west of Keynsham. Note there will be no changes to the North Somerset areas.
- End-to-end integrated transport journeys: WESTlink is now integrated with the wider public transport network. This means you can request journeys to destinations beyond the WESTlink operating area, including locations such as Bristol city centre, Bath city centre, and Weston-super-Mare. Where available, we’ll offer a combined journey plan that may include WESTlink together with local bus and/or rail services. To help you reach more destinations seamlessly, the WESTlink app will provide you with the option to book your WESTlink journey, and will show you the proposed bus route connection.

The new Bristol North zone will cover the previous areas of Cribbs shared, Bristol North, Southmead and UWE shared.
The new West of England zone will cover all the other zones, with Stockwood added to the travelling areas.
North Somerset zones, including Airport shared, are not changing.
Service hours:
- West of England zone: Monday to Saturday: 07:00 to 19:00. Journeys up to 8 miles permitted.
- Bristol North zone: Monday to Saturday: 05:30 to 21:00. Journeys up to 8 miles permitted.
- North Somerset zones: Monday to Friday: 09:00 to 14:00. Journeys up to 5 miles permitted.
- Airport shared zone: shares journeys between the West of England and North Somerset zones. Follows the service hours and travel distance of the destination zone.
Updated fares
To support the expanded service and new journey options, WESTlink will now use a distance-based fare structure, so the amount you pay reflects the length of your journey:
- 0 – 4 miles: £2.60
- 4 – 8 miles: £3.00
- Child fares remain unchanged
Please note: Advance bookings for Monday, 27 July will be temporarily unavailable while we work to bring these changes to you on Sunday. They will be re-enabled later that day once changes are done.
Planned bus service changes dates
Bus operators can only submit bus registration applications to the West of England Bus Registrations Authority to operate a new service, change or cancel an existing service*, twice a year – in line with the West of England Enhanced Partnership (EP)‘s requirements.
The agreed “effective from” change dates are approximately from the beginning of April and September, each year. This page will be updated with all planned service changes, ahead of effective dates.
*Please note cross-boundary applications (for services operating in and outside of the West of England area) are still required to submit bus registration applications to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner, and where these are not required to comply with the West of England EP requirements, they may still fall outside the agreed “effective from” change dates above.
