Operational information

Nailsea and District Community Transport has 10 buses (3 electric) and 2 cars in the northeast half of North Somerset. These cover Nailsea, Backwell, Clevedon, Portishead, Long Ashton, Gordano, Felton, Yatton, Wrington and all of the intervening villages and rural areas.

We generally operate Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, but will also accommodate dial-a-ride requests and hires at weekends and evenings if drivers are available.

We are closed on bank holidays and for 3 days over Christmas.

We provide friendly door-to-door accessible transport, including for wheelchair users, to help you stay independent and connected.

Our services include:

  • Shopping: Weekly door to door trips to shops in Nailsea, Clevedon and Portishead.
  • Dial a Rides: Book door to door rides for medical appointments, social activities or visiting friends and family.
  • Day Trips: Weekly trips to cafes, garden centres, theatres, markets and more. A great way to have a day out and meet new people.
  • Community group bookings: Regular pickups for local group activities and affordable minibus hire for local clubs, charities and organisations.

Membership and fees

To use the service you will need to become a member. Annual membership is £20 and then there are various fares depending on the journey. For example, a return weekly shopping trip is £8.

Nailsea and District Community Transport (NDCT) also has an Opportunities Fund to ensure finances are never a barrier to using our service. This allows us to provide free or reduced cost journeys for those who need them.

To find out more about membership or our Opportunities Fund, contact the office between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

People can try us for free for their first journey and then join as a member after this if they would like to use the service.

Phone lines are manned between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday but voicemails are monitored remotely so leave a message and one of the team will be in touch.

Please give us as much notice as possible for journeys.

Wheelchairs: We will need to undertake a wheelchair assessment before you can access transport which will be done by one of the team and can be arranged by calling the office.
