Everyone’s invited to celebrate 10 years of Bristol Cycling Centre at a free anniversary event
Bristol Cycling Centre in Bamfield is hosting a free cycling celebration on Saturday 25 July to mark ten years since the popular cycling hub opened its gates.
Over the past decade, there have been around 130,000 visits to the centre where people of all ages and abilities have had the chance to take to the track on a bike of their choice.
Currently based at the Old Whitchurch Athletics Track, Bristol Cycling Centre offers a traffic-free environment to learn to ride, improve cycling skills, or simply enjoy riding with family and friends. There is a wide range of bikes available to borrow for everyone’s needs, including adapted cycles.
This free event will give both regular visitors and first-time riders the opportunity to experience everything the facility has to offer.
A range of the centre’s most popular sessions will be running, including:
- Learn to Ride
- Learn to Ride Next Steps
- Disability Cycling
- Family Cycling
- Rock Up and Ride
All sessions will be free as part of the anniversary celebrations.
Alongside cycling sessions, visitors can enjoy a range of fun games and activities, enjoy refreshments, including the centre’s popular smoothie bike.
Councillor Ed Plowden, Chair of the Transport and Connectivity Committee, said: “Congratulations to Bristol Cycling Centre, who are celebrating 10 years of helping Bristolians get around on two wheels. Since opening in 2016, they’ve helped countless people learn to ride, build confidence, and enjoy cycling in a safe and supportive environment.
“Put the date in the diary for this anniversary event. Whether you’ve visited regularly over the years or have never been before, come along and join in the fun. With free cycling sessions, games and activities throughout the day, it’s the perfect opportunity to see what Bristol Cycling Centre is about.”
Places for the free cycling sessions are expected to be popular, and visitors are encouraged to secure their places in advance through the online booking form.
On arrival visitors will receive a wristband for their chosen session, helping the team manage numbers throughout the day.
