Travel advisors to direct passengers to new Broadmead bus stops and give out free bus vouchers
People who get on and off the bus in Broadmead will be able to get advice from a team of travel advisors who will be stationed on Union Street, The Horsefair and Penn Street. They will be on hand to help people find their new bus stops when 26 bus routes serving these streets change on Sunday 30 August.
The travel advisors will be in Broadmead every day between Tuesday 25 August and Saturday 12 September, to help people find their new bus stops, hand out leaflets that feature a bus stop map, and give away up to 10,000 free First Bus tickets.
The team will also highlight the Strut Safe phone line, which is for people who are walking on their own to call so they can reach a friendly voice to keep them company and feel safe.

Councillor Plowden, Chair of the Transport and Connectivity Committee, said: “From 30 August, some bus stops in Broadmead will move as part of changes to improve how people travel through and around the city centre.
“We know it can take time to get used to changes like these, which is why our travel advisors will be on hand to help passengers find their new bus stops and answer any questions they may have.
“These changes are an important step towards creating a city centre that is easier to get around, with better public spaces and a more welcoming environment for residents, shoppers and visitors.”
Part of the City Centre project, the changes to bus routes are being made to reduce traffic on three busy shopping streets. This is all in preparation for major regeneration across Broadmead, including new homes, leisure facilities and shops that will be built over the coming years.
To get ready for more than 5,000 more people living in Broadmead, plans include transforming public spaces to make them more pedestrian-friendly and better suited to community activities, while still supporting a thriving shopping quarter. Over time, these areas will be enhanced with plants and trees, new seating, cycle parking, public art and more.
“Making these changes to bus routes is another step towards our long-term vision, set out in the City Centre Development and Delivery Plan, to create a more accessible, attractive and vibrant city centre neighbourhood, with better public spaces, cultural activity and investment in Broadmead’s future,” continued Cllr Plowden.
The changes to bus routes through Broadmead are part of wider changes to bus timetables across the West of England.
