Highway works at Lansdown Road junction complete

Works to install a new raised zebra crossing, widen footways and resurface the highway in Lansdown Road, Bath have been completed.

The schemes completion marks the fourth new zebra crossing introduced by Bath & North East Somerset Council this year, with works to completing a fifth at London Road East, Batheaston currently underway.

Alongside the new crossing, changes were made to the pedestrian island, sections of highway and footway were resurfaced, high friction surfacing was added, and signage was removed and updated.

The council’s initial plan for the busy junction, which is part of the Lansdown Park & Ride route, was updated following concerns raised by residents in a consultation.

The changes introduced, and the new layout of this junction, reflect the feedback we received from residents and is another great step as we look to continually make our roads safer for everyone.

With this new crossing as well as the zebra crossing installed earlier this year near Lansdown Grove, the journey for all pedestrians using Lansdown Road is now a safer one.
