Weston Bus Interchange improvements from Mon 10 April

Works to make a simple but effective change at Weston Interchange, allowing for more flexible and efficient bus movements, started on Monday 10 March for three weeks.

During the works, the corner of Alexandra Parade and Alfred Street will be widened, to allow space for buses to turn both left and right out of the junction. The changes, which are to the Locking Road end of the interchange, are being implemented with the support of First Bus.

Traffic will be managed under temporary lights for most of the works. However, a night-time closure will be in place between 8pm and 5am from Monday 24 to Thursday 27 March for road resurfacing to take place on the Locking Road junction with Alfred Street, to minimise disruption.

During the night-time works, part of Locking Road and Walliscote Road will be closed to traffic, and a signed diversion in place, which can be viewed at: www.one.network/?GB142399173. Any temporary changes to bus services X1, A3 and 7 during the night works will be advertised on the First Bus website at: www.firstbus.co.uk/bristol-bath-and-west/news-and-service-updates/current-issues

This is a simple but effective change that will give added flexibility for current and future bus services. We appreciate everyone bearing with us while these works take place, as there will be some temporary disruption.

Cllr Hannah Young, Executive Member for Transport and Highways
