Dott, the operator of the shared e-bike and e-scooter trial service in the West of England, is expanding its service area into new areas of south Bath. For the first time, a section of the historic Bristol and Bath Railway Path between Bitton, Emersons Green, and Temple Meads is also being opened up, along with Concorde Way to Ashley Down.
At Bath’s world-famous Christmas Markets, which celebrate their 25th anniversary this year with more than 250 stalls, local leaders and the Mayor announced plans for the return of the popular initiative from 20 December to 4 January.
New figures show that Kids Go Free, a pioneering initiative on the West’s buses, saw 912,460 free journeys by children and young people over the summer holidays – saving local families almost £1 million. New data has also noted increased consumer spending and visits to local attractions during the same period, with more than half of people surveyed able to afford visiting new places thanks to Kids Go Free.
Four projects designed to make Bristol’s streets safer, greener, and more accessible will be reviewed by the Transport and Connectivity Committee on Thursday 4 December.
New local bus network guides are being delivered directly to households across North Somerset, providing clear route maps, timetables, information on local services, WESTlink and a 50% discount offer for a day’s unlimited travel.
From 9.30am on Monday 1 to Friday 12 December the lower part of Whiteladies Road will be totally closed to motor vehicles with a signposted diversion in place. Delays are to be expected.
Bath and North East Somerset Council is advising visitors to plan their trips to Bath Christmas Market in advance and is encouraging people to use public transport, like the city’s Park & Ride service.
In January and February 2025, the council shared updated designs for the central section of the number 2 bus route. This is part of a multi-million pound project to improve the number 2 bus route along the A37 and A4018 from Henbury to Stockwood.
A number of sustainable travel improvements along the A4174 ring road have been substantially completed, with over 4km of improved cycle lanes and footpaths between Wick Wick roundabout and Coldharbour Lane.
