Motorcycle Driving Tips

Motorcyclists are very vulnerable on roads, and even if you have been riding for a while, it’s always good to remember the basics on how to keep yourself safe whilst driving.

  • Don’t ride too closely to the kerb
  • Ride midway between the kerb and the central white line so you can be seen
  • Never assume that other drivers can see you
  • Consider using your horn to warn unaware drivers
  • Ride slowly between lanes of traffic
  • Give yourself space from cars in front of you
  • Adjust your speed to weather and road conditions
  • Be patient and cautious
  • Use a bright coloured helmet and protective clothing

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

Most learner riders must take Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), which will allow them to ride a moped or motorbike up to 125cc with L plates until they pass their full motorcycle test. It’s not only about legal requirements

Training will give you the chance to improve your road skills and keep you safe. Motorcyclists are very vulnerable to road accidents, during your training you’ll learn about best practices that include everything from clothing to road driving techniques.
