Around Your Way in South Gloucestershire
Helping new residents in South Gloucestershire find the best ways to explore their new neighbourhood

South Gloucestershire’s new communities are bursting with great places to explore. We provide residents with a range of support to help you get out and about using active and sustainable transport.
Travel plans
Your new development has a travel plan. This is a plan that sets out several measures to help encourage residents to travel sustainably – by public transport or actively (walking/cycling) instead of using their cars. The reason for encouraging sustainable travel is to:
- Reduce congestion on local road networks and carbon emissions.
- Improve air quality.
- Help to make your community a healthier and safer place to live.
Measures include:
A Local Discover Guide
These attractive fold out leaflets contain a map and are brimming with information to help you get about sustainably and explore the amazing things in your local area.
Annual Travel Surveys
By participating in the annual travel survey for your development, we can help you travel sustainably and monitor the impact of the travel plan.
Travel Information Packs
There is an opportunity to request various travel leaflets through the annual travel survey.
Smarter Travel Vouchers
Some new developments have smarter travel voucher schemes.
They are funded by the developer and offered to all households where the scheme is run. They can be used to help you purchase items that support active or sustainable travel. South Gloucestershire Council administer the scheme on sites where they are travel plan coordinators and the scheme is run.
Details of eligible items and how to claim the costs back are outlined in the voucher. More information can be found in the Terms & Conditions.
For more information about the Smarter Travel Voucher scheme, contact the travel planning team at [email protected]
Events
Regular events such as Sustainable Travel Roadshows, Dr Bike sessions, cycle maintenance training, and guided walks are held for each development.
Websites
There are several websites available where you can find information on your local area and how to get around. The Around Your Way website is a great place to start, as well as WEST and the Better by Bike website.
Travel plan coordinator
Each development has a dedicated travel plan coordinator to deliver these measures and to act as a point of contact for help with sustainable travel. Your travel plan coordinator can be contacted by emailing [email protected]
