The four West of England authorities have been successful in bidding for funding from the DfT’s Access fund budget and have recently launched the Access WEST project which runs through until the end of March 2020

South Gloucestershire Council’s business engagement manager is available to provide a wide range of support to all organisations in the area. As part of the Access WEST project, we will be able to offer a range of support packages including employer grants to promote sustainable travel measure, a cycle champions scheme (including Dr Bike, bike maintenance provision and led rides), general support to promote walking and cycling to work and we will be relaunching our Wheels to Work West programme to help support people looking to access work and skills. We will continue to offer travel roadshow events run by the experienced Travelwest roadshow team.

As part of the work of the Access WEST project across the West of England, we support the promotion and operation of an annual commuter travel challenge running for 6 weeks in June and July and a separate commuter travel survey every March which helps to identify travel patterns in the area to help guide work on promoting sustainable travel. Each November we will be running our annual sustainable travel awards event, a great opportunity to showcase the efforts your organisations and colleagues are making to travel sustainably.

For more information about the support on offer during the Access WEST project, check out the other sections of this website or contact Richard Drew, South Gloucestershire council’s Business Engagement Manager directly.
