Major Updates

An annual opportunity to tell us about your travel choices.

The  Travel to Work Survey takes place annually and is live for 1 week. The survey will take place from 9 to 15 March 2020 and covered businesses in Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. It’s a simple questionnaire that takes less than 5 minutes to complete and it’s a crucial element for any business that’s seeking to understand more about the way their staff commute.

The four West of England councils along with the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) use this data for planning future transport and housing needs.

You can find out more about how the results of the previous surveys have been used here.

Employers use the results to support their site Travel Plan and also to create business cases for improved or additional facilities to support staff such as new cycle storage or Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points. Each authorities Business Engagement Teams and Economic Development Teams use the data from the survey to work with employers and understand how they can support them and transport issues affecting staff travel.

As an incentive for people to take part, Travelwest run prize draws throughout survey week. For this year’s survey prizes include 2 hot air balloon rides for two, Fitbit devices along with shopping vouchers.

How to take part if your organisation hasn't pre-registered

For businesses or individuals who missed the deadline for pre-registration, don’t worry you still have an opportunity to take part. We have a variety of resources that can be downloaded and a digital toolkit, this is a step by step guide to help you promote and encourage your colleagues to take part in the survey.   If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact your Business Engagement Manager below.
